What do you take for knee and joint pain?

Well, I am finally scheduled for an MRI to see what is going on with my shoulder.  I posted about this a month ago.  Two x-rays show nothing and the pain is actually worse at night when I am lying down - it actually wakes me up.  Now my knee on the right side is very crunchy and painful and I am looking for the right supplement to help that. (Trying careful squats to strengthen the muscles around it.)  My knees have taken a beating over the years with two dislocations and a fracture, not to mention a few falls in between.

I know there must be some great stuff out there and rather than just do an internet search, thought I would ask if any Tracker friends have found something that really works.

We take glucusamine (sp?) to help out our joints.  It's not a miracle or anything, but I think it helps.

My DH has a broken knee cap and nothing would touch the swelling except Celebrex. He got a bunch of samples from the orthopaedic surgeon. It doesn't do anything for pain it's just an anti-inflammatory.

Try some fish oil.

Celebrex reduces pain, too.

Celebrex is really good if you can take it.  Glucosamine/Chondroiton (sp?) mixtures work fairly well as a supplement.

If in doubt, poke it with a stick.

Oh, if you go with the Glucosamine buy the tablets. The drink is NASTY.

I recommend GlucosamineDS. Pricier, but good. Costco carries it. And Walmart I think.

Embrace the suck.

Checking Walmart this weekend.  I have found that no supplement/medicine that comes in liquid form tastes good!

If you go over the counter, motrin is probably the best.

If in doubt, poke it with a stick.
