Do any of you own or use selectable/adjustable weights?

If so, which brand do you use, and do you like them? I'm thinking about getting a set that would let me increase by less than 5 pound increments, because sometimes going up by 5 pounds is too much at once (like for my shoulders...)

DMGG--I have Selecttechs, which I bought when I was doing CE.  I absolutely LOVE them.  You're right, it helps being able to make those smaller increases for those body parts.

I don't know if you know of the website Slickdeals, but that's how I found the best deal on mine.  I set up an email alert so when there was a deal post on them, I was alerted.

And if you're waiting for a new deal, you can at least see there what's considered a "good" deal and compare to what you're finding in other places.

Also, my Play It Again Sports has new ones(not the best deal compared to online) and once in awhile, some used ones.

Thank you so much, Erika! I'll check out the slickdeals site. Are the select tech weights huge and awkward to use, or do you get used to them pretty quickly? I just don't want to go around knocking myself in the head repeatedly with giant weights, lol...

I don't do kettle bells because I'm not very graceful, and I don't want to end up breaking furniture or my skull...

I think they are fairly easy to get used to using.  The only time it feels a little larger than normal is when you position them between your legs--I can't remember the name of the exercise in CE, but you probably know what I'm talking about.  They're just a smidge wider than a dumbbell when you need the heavy weights on it, like when working lower body.

I really love them, and the very slight adjustment it takes to the size difference at their heaviest weight, is made up for with the ability for the small increases in what you can work on lifting and the space-saving part.  I find them more comfortable with my hands too, compared to our other style dumbbells.

Love them and haven't regretted the purchase at all!

No girlie weights for Jared! :0) I do have a barbell, but I'm skeered to use it on things like bench presses, because I work out all alone down in my basement. Plus, I'm weak, like a baby.

What if I got stuck under it, then my cat would stare at me a while, then would probably jump up on my chest and eat my eyes, just because she could. It could happen...

I look gross and sweaty, but I didn't work out yesterday morning when I was in Murfreesboro, felt bad about it. So,after my presentation, I packed the car, drove about 50 miles to my next stop, unpacked and set up the conference room for today's presentation, checked in and finally worked out about 7:30 last night.

My arms and legs are shaping up, my tummy is my Waterloo. It needs to be defeated! :0)

One more day of presenting food stamp policy and procedure refresher training, then home, yay!! No more travel for 3 weeks.

Ps-this fitness room was huge. I'm staying at an inn, and the workout room is in a separate little stand-alone building. The sad part, no weights. Zero. In fact, this huge room only had an old school stair stepper from the Iron Age, a treadmill, a little bike , and the pulley machine thingy.

I only smacked myself with those straps a time or two before I figured it out. I was so freaking tired and just burned out after presenting, driving, unloading, etc,but am glad I made myself exercise. I felt better after I did, I always do!

Ps again, I meant to post these in my team thread. So random. I thread-jacked my own post. Lol...

My brain is fried. I need to get home. One more presentation today, then home I go!
