Team Mephobia Forget Setting Goals

WHAT????

But everyone says setting goals is THE most important thing ever, right? I could never figure out why I had such a hard time with this. Then I came upon this article yesterday and it just hit home with me. Kind of a long article, but worth the read. It's all about focusing on a system instead. Take a few minutes to read if you are so inclined.

Forget Goal Setting. Focus on This Instead

Starting my challenge today. About freaking time. I hopped on the scale this morning and whoa....

I'll be back later when I have more time to write out my plan of attack. I'm not sure I have it all figured out, but I do have some motivation. Have a great day!

Good article Carol!  I shall focus on a system then!  Up to now has been laughable but I swear it's my body still getting over pneumonia.  Someone told me yesterday it took them a month to get back to normal.  It's been 2 weeks and I am just not normal.

My "workouts" for the year to date:  (feel free to laugh with me)

Jan 1 - Light biceps, light triceps, super light shoulders - super light weights

Jan 2 - Back and Chest (not my normal bodypart groupings, but again, things are not normal yet)

Jan. 3 - Light Legs - super light weights

Jan 4 - My body was worn the hell out this day and stayed in the fetal position for about half of it

Jan 5 - Let my emotions get the best of me.  Didn't do squat.  Literally.

Today - Must get back to it, even if it's another "light" workout.  The plan is Upper Body and then tomorrow Lower.

I wish I had access to that vitamin B and needles so I could shoot up every day.  I have been taking vitamins orally but gee whiz it doesn't feel like it's doing much I just need some energy already.

Have a great day gals!

Good Morning, all!

Great article, Carbar - thanks for sharing that.  I need perspective at time and that helped

Hula - you always bring forth a smile, but I am very proud of you for getting those workouts in when your body allowed it.

I'm also just noticing your Karma Titles.  Well done, ladies.

I have been eating well and tracking my foods through myfitnesspal (MissKatie_J if you want to come find me).  Tracking foods helps and the handy, dandy phone app allows for me to never have to wait until I'm home.  My latest addiction is small sized, low carb tortillas filled with a package of Ktarkist Tuna Salad.  I'm sure I can create a healthier version with Greek Yogurt, but these are simple and easy.  100 calrolies, 3.5g of fat, 0.5 sugards and 14 g protein.  I'll take it when needed.   I'm not going to eat anything I have to choke down.  Not doing it.

I worked out legs on Satuday and was terrified for a minute because of the Rhabdo.  I don't know if I'm now more inclined to get it?  I allowed for light weight to be used, but proceeded with the workout.  I feel good.  Really good, actually.  Yesterday I did shoulders and back with my friend and I felt "home" again.  Back to where I want to be with the mind frame for this again.  well - not just "this", but where I am the happiest and knowing that I'm taking care of myself.

Hope everyone has a great day!  I'm freezing in Alabama today!

Something cute and sarcastic should go here but I can't think of anything. Check back later.

Hula, you are amazing getting back to any kind of workouts after being so sick. Not laughable at all.

KJ, are you more susceptible now? I've never heard that. Research that shit. (am I allowed to say shit here?)

Strength wod was 10x(1 power clean + 1 push press) @ 55,65,70,75,80,85,90,92,94(failed the push press),94(failed the push press). Then3x10 weighted hip extensions.

Regular wod was 1 mile row followed by 2 rounds of 50 squats, 25 burpees, 10 HSPUs(modified). 19:37. Burpees suck.

I have my meals planned for the day and will try to stick to that.

So the system I will be focusing on is working out 5-6 times a week, whether it's CF or normal workouts. My husband got me a membership to a regular gym, so I will be adding some more traditional workouts in each week. Also, I will re-commit to olympic lifting classes at least 2x a week. My eating will be a combination of BFL and Paleo/primal and I will be replacing my nightly wine with seltzer or tea at least 5 days a week. If I can stick with this plan, my body can't help but change for the better and certainly my performance will improve.

I'm heading to a chiro appointment today to see if she can do anything about my bad foot and work on breaking up some scar tissue in my repaired shoulder. If she can't do anything about the foot I guess it's time to see a podiatrist and see if surgery is in my future. I swore I'd never have surgery again, but this is ridiculous. I miss running.

Need to take pictures today, but it's cold. The idea of putting on a bikini is unpleasant on many levels. Sigh.

I am so glad y'all are getting back into it - you can feel the energy from it! Yay!

Hula, sometimes you just do what you can do and just the act of putting in the time is good enough. Go to sleep early tonight, though.

And Katie, I am so glad it felt good! And I fully support your idea of not eating any shit you have to choke down, even if it IS good for you. The act of eating something that grosses you out negates any health benefit.

Carol, I'm really hoping its not more surgery but if it does help, it might be worth it.

Day off today. Which yay. But didn't sleep well last night (dating is hard, y'all and I continue to be all stressed about things... I like a guy a LOT and it's been funky since before Christmas and I called him out on it - he's on the rebound and turtling because he likes me a lot and that makes him all scared... BOO!) and was cranky at the gym this morning. Didn't want to do anything except be sad in a corner and maybe cry and eat a cupcake. Just kept chipping away at it and in two hours I was done and feeling better about life. Back to wanting a cupcake but f that.

Just getting my meals prepped for the week. It's going to be another shrimp and bacon spinach salad week. Which, delicious! I coach mobility for the first time ever tonight and am feeling woefully unprepared for it - I have some vids to watch. That and shower and haul ass back to the gym

Can we make the executive decision to okay the use of some swear words just in our thread and mark our thread titles with a language warning? Would everyone be comfortable with that?

I CrossFit for the euphemisms.

Maximum enjoyment scale MES... I'm doing all I can to not eat any thing that isn't 8-10 both healthy and anything unhealthy.  If it's not divine, why bother?

Spent all afternoon yesterday and most of the night last night nursing the horribly sick spousal unit through what I hope was food poisoning.  Long night, no gym for me this morning.

Will hit it hard tomorrow for 30 minutes before I teach.  That is if I don't freeze walking to the box door

I don't mind you swearing either.

I seem to always catch these the next day. :/ I have been doing well! Getting into week two and my motivation is only gaining momentum. I had a slight hoop to jump through on Saturday when I found out my stupid gym closes at 4pm on the weekends... who does that??... and I missed my workout. So I quickly decided to make Saturday my free day for a couple of weeks. Went to Starbucks to get a frappuccino (nonfat) , and got right back into it on Sunday. It actually works out well since we have a birthday dinner to go to for a friend this coming Saturday also. So I can eat what I want.
